Nedalsfoss power plant

Norway / Hydropower / Power plant

Nedalsfoss power plant is located on the Nea River in Tydal Municipality in Trøndelag County.

  • 1974
    Entered into operation
  • 27 MW
    Installed capacity
  • 82.2 GWh
    Annual production

The plant is equipped with a Francis turbine and utilises a height of fall of 98 metres from the intake reservoir Lake Falksjøen below Lake Sylsjøen. Lake Sylsjøen is located entirely in Sweden, but to exploit the height of fall, a 15-meter-high intake dam was built on the Norwegian side of the border. The dam is of flat concrete construction, and when the reservoir is full, water can flow freely over the dam's entire width. The lake was named Falksjøen after a pair of falcons nested here during the entire construction period.
